KOFORIDUA, E/R- Ghanaian youth have been encouraged to embrace entrepreneurship as a pathway to securing their future, with stakeholders emphasizing that entrepreneurial skills are valuable for everyone, regardless of their educational background.
According to them, entrepreneurship is not reserved for those who are academically weak. Instead, acquiring entrepreneurial skills can complement existing professions, create additional income streams, and improve livelihoods.
The call was made during the Community Marketplace Impact Programme, an initiative by Eastern TechHub that trained more than 70 young entrepreneurs in the Eastern Region.
Speaking on the sidelines of the programme, the Chief Executive Officer of Eastern TechHub, Isaac Agbetey Akutey, explained the motivation behind the initiative and expressed confidence that it would empower participants with practical skills to build sustainable businesses.
The Eastern Regional Director of the National Youth Authority, Evelyn Enyonam Oti, urged young people to enroll in the National Apprenticeship Programme to acquire practical and employable skills, irrespective of their educational qualifications or employment status.
She said the Authority’s partnership with Eastern TechHub is aimed at equipping more young people with marketable skills to help tackle rising unemployment in the country.
Mrs. Oti stressed that vocational and entrepreneurial skills training should not be viewed as an option only for those who are academically weak but as an opportunity for anyone with the passion and determination to learn a trade.
The Eastern Regional Coordinator of the National Apprenticeship Programme, Emmanuel Asante Ofori, appealed to individuals, organizations, and parents to continue supporting apprentices beyond the government’s one-year sponsorship period.
He explained that while government sponsorship lasts for one year, some apprentices require additional time to complete their training and attain mastery of their chosen trades.
