LOWER MANYA KROBO MP COMMISSIONS APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING CENTRE TO SUPPORT YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS

Nicetvnews: ODUMASE -KROBO, E/R.

An Apprenticeship Training Centre established by the Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo, Ebenezer Okletey Tei-Larbi, has been commissioned to provide opportunities for graduate apprentices who are unable to establish their own businesses due to financial constraints.

The initiative is aimed at helping beneficiaries gain practical experience, mobilize resources, and eventually set up their own enterprises while creating opportunities for other apprentices to benefit from the programme.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Tei-Larbi explained that although sewing machines are often provided to apprentices after completing their training, many beneficiaries fail to utilize them effectively.

According to him, it was observed that some recipients left the machines unused in their homes rather than putting them to productive use. This, he said, informed the decision to establish the training centre, where apprentices who have completed their training elsewhere can further develop their skills, work collectively, generate income, and prepare themselves to establish independent businesses.

The Member of Parliament further disclosed that three sewing training centres have so far been established across the constituency to support individuals in the tailoring profession. He added that plans are far advanced to secure facilities for similar centres to serve hairdressers and practitioners of other vocational trades.

The Agormanya Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. Samuel Gafetor, commended the Member of Parliament for what he described as a visionary and impactful initiative that will benefit both the municipality and the constituency.

He noted that the centre would provide employment opportunities and serve as a pathway for many seamstresses and apprentices who currently lack the resources to establish their own shops. According to him, the initiative will enable beneficiaries to earn an income, save towards their future goals, and improve their livelihoods.

Describing the project as innovative and forward-looking, Apostle Dr. Gafetor stressed that its long-term success would depend on the commitment, discipline, and unity of the beneficiaries.

He urged them to work hard, remain dedicated to excellence, and take full advantage of the opportunity provided, adding that their success stories would inspire the establishment of similar centres across the constituency.

The apprenticeship centre is expected to serve as a hub for skills development, entrepreneurship, and job creation, contributing to efforts aimed at reducing youth unemployment and empowering young people within the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency.
