ABAMKROM, E/R — The Me Boafo Foundation has constructed and handed over a newly completed six-unit classroom block and other supporting facilities to the Abamkrom Islamic Basic School in the Upper West District of the Eastern Region.
The project was undertaken as part of the foundation’s philanthropic and community development initiatives, is expected to provide pupils and teachers with a safer and more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
The Executive Director of the Me Boafo Foundation, Dr. Emmanuel Obiri Addo, said the decision to construct the facility was informed by the poor condition of the school’s existing infrastructure.
According to him, the state of the school required urgent intervention to ensure that pupils had access to a suitable environment in which to learn and develop their academic potential.
Dr. Obiri Addo said the foundation was committed to supporting communities through initiatives aimed at improving education and the general well-being of children.

He explained that the newly constructed classroom block, together with the supporting facilities, was intended to address some of the infrastructure challenges confronting the school and contribute to improved educational outcomes.
He urged the pupils to take advantage of the new facility by studying hard, remaining disciplined and making good use of the resources provided.
The Executive Director further encouraged the teachers and school authorities to ensure that the facility was properly maintained so that it could serve the school and the wider community for many years.
The Headteacher of Abamkrom Islamic Basic School, Mr. Rufai Issah, expressed appreciation to the Me Boafo Foundation and its partners for the intervention, describing the new classroom block as an important boost to the school’s infrastructure.
He, however, appealed to the government, non-governmental organisations, corporate institutions, philanthropists and individuals to complement the foundation’s efforts by providing the school with computers and other Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment.
Mr. Issah said access to ICT tools would enhance teaching and learning and expose pupils to the technological skills required to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
He made the appeal during the handing-over ceremony for the newly constructed six-unit classroom block and other supporting facilities.
The Headteacher noted that while the new building had addressed a major infrastructure challenge, the provision of ICT equipment would further strengthen the school’s ability to deliver quality education.

He appealed for computers, projectors and other relevant digital learning resources to enable both teachers and pupils to make effective use of technology in the classroom.
Mr. Issah said such support would also provide pupils with opportunities to explore their creativity, develop practical skills and realise their full potential.
Some dignitaries who attended the ceremony expressed their appreciation to the Me Boafo Foundation for the initiative and commended the organisation for investing in the education of children in the community.
They encouraged the pupils to take their studies seriously and make proper use of the newly constructed facilities.
The dignitaries also urged the pupils to remain focused, disciplined and committed to their education, stressing that education remained an important tool for personal and community development.
They further appealed to other organisations, businesses, development partners and individuals to support the school with additional resources to complement the infrastructure provided by the foundation.
The handover of the six-unit classroom block marks a significant addition to the educational infrastructure of Abamkrom Islamic Basic School and is expected to improve the learning environment for pupils and teachers.
