AKYEM MUOSO, E/R– The Chief of Akyem Muoso in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern Region, Osabarima Dr. Owusu Beyeeman, has reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusive development by presenting a detailed account of his stewardship to residents of the community.
The accountability forum brought together opinion leaders, assembly members, youth groups, women’s associations, religious leaders, and other stakeholders. The gathering provided an opportunity for the Chief to outline key development projects undertaken during his tenure, explain how resources mobilised for community development had been utilised, and share his vision for the future of Akyem Muoso.
Addressing the gathering, Osabarima Dr. Owusu Beyeeman stressed that accountability remains a fundamental principle of effective leadership. He noted that traditional leaders and individuals entrusted with responsibilities have a duty to remain transparent and answerable to the people they serve.
He explained that the exercise was also intended to encourage a culture of openness and responsibility within the community. As part of the programme, individuals and committees assigned specific responsibilities were expected to render accounts of their work and explain the progress made in executing their mandates.
The Chief commended residents for their continued support towards the development of the community and urged them to remain committed to initiatives aimed at improving education, healthcare, infrastructure, sanitation, and other socio-economic sectors.
However, he expressed disappointment over the inability of the Community Unit Committee to account for its stewardship, particularly regarding its responsibility to mobilise resources and spearhead development initiatives. According to him, accountability should not be selective but must apply to everyone entrusted with public or community responsibilities.
Osabarima Dr. Owusu Beyeeman warned that any individual or group assigned a leadership role in the community would be required to account for their stewardship. He cautioned that those who fail to do so voluntarily could be compelled to answer in accordance with the law.
The Chief also assured residents that all ongoing development projects initiated under his leadership would be completed despite existing challenges. He appealed to the people of Akyem Muoso to remain united, put aside their differences, and work collectively towards the growth and transformation of the community.
He expressed confidence that with unity, accountability, and active community participation, Akyem Muoso would continue to witness significant progress and sustainable development.
Speaking during the event, Osabarima Dr. Owusu Beyeeman reiterated that accountable leadership builds public confidence and creates the foundation for lasting development. He called on residents to continue supporting the traditional authority’s efforts to improve the living standards of the people and position Akyem Muoso as one of the fastest-developing communities in the Atiwa West District.
