FORMER NDC EASTERN REGIONAL CHAIRMAN RAISES CONCERN OVER DEEPENING DIVISIONS WITHIN PARTY.

KOFORIDUA, E/R- Former Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bismark Tawiah Boateng, popularly known as “Otafregya,” has expressed concern over what he describes as growing divisions within the party in the Eastern Region.

According to him, internal cracks that emerged at the regional level have gradually spread to the constituency and branch levels, creating disunity among party members. He attributed the situation to the neglect and perceived disregard for former executives, former government officials, and founding members who played significant roles in building the party in the region.

Mr. Boateng, who has declared his intention to contest for the Eastern Regional Chairmanship position, said the party is currently facing deep divisions that require urgent attention.

He maintained that during his tenure as Regional Chairman, the party enjoyed greater cohesion and unity. He pledged that if elected once again, he would work diligently to bridge existing gaps, reunite party members, and bring former executives and officials back into the affairs of the party.

The aspiring Regional Chairman also called on the current regional leadership to prioritize reconciliation, inclusiveness, and unity to strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He cautioned that the next election is likely to be highly competitive and warned that unresolved internal conflicts could weaken the party’s chances of retaining power.

Mr. Boateng further urged the regional leadership to engage all stakeholders, recognize the contributions of veteran members, and foster a stronger sense of belonging among party faithful to enhance the NDC’s electoral prospects in the region.

He appealed to delegates in the Eastern Region to entrust him with the leadership of the party once again, assuring them of his commitment to rebuilding unity and strengthening the party’s structures.
