KOFORIDUA, EASTERN REGION — The incumbent Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the New Juaben South Constituency, Alhaji Selassie Amuzu, has expressed confidence in retaining his position in the party’s upcoming constituency executive elections.
Alhaji Amuzu believes his contributions to the party and efforts to strengthen its grassroots structures over the years will earn him another mandate from delegates to consolidate the gains made and improve the party’s electoral fortunes in the constituency.
Speaking with the media ahead of the elections scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2026, the incumbent chairman said all necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure a smooth, transparent, and peaceful electoral process.
He disclosed that security arrangements had been made in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, while the Electoral Commission had also been engaged to facilitate the conduct of the elections.
According to him, a total of 1,917 delegates from 201 branches are expected to participate in the elections, where 77 aspirants are contesting various executive positions.
Alhaji Amuzu, who is seeking another term, expressed optimism that delegates would renew his mandate, citing his track record and contributions towards strengthening the party’s presence and maximising its votes in the constituency.
He maintained that his leadership had helped improve the party’s grassroots organisation, adding that he remained committed to building on the progress made if retained in office.
He further pledged to intensify efforts to unite party members, strengthen the NDC’s structures, and improve its electoral performance ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Alhaji Amuzu said one of his key priorities, if re-elected, would be to work towards unseating the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the New Juaben South parliamentary constituency in the next general elections.
