KWAHU, E/R. — Akyeame in the Kwahu Traditional Area have expressed concern over what they describe as the persistent lack of development in the area, blaming prolonged chieftaincy disputes for stalling progress, undermining economic growth, and discouraging investment.
According to the traditional linguists, several roads in the area have been neglected and are now in deplorable condition, while potential investors who had expressed interest in the area are reportedly withdrawing their investments because of the lingering disputes.
Addressing a press conference, the Kwahu Benkumhene’s linguist, Okyeame Gyimah, said the protracted chieftaincy disputes were having a serious impact on Kwahuman, depriving residents of development opportunities and hindering economic progress.
He noted that the disputes had contributed to the poor state of road infrastructure and discouraged potential investors from committing resources to the area, a situation he said was worsening unemployment among the youth.

Meanwhile, some of the Akyeame have accused politicians of interfering in chieftaincy affairs in Kwahu, alleging that such involvement was contributing to the persistence of the disputes for personal and political interests.
They cited the alleged unlawful arrest of the Okwahuhemaa as one of the incidents that had heightened their concerns about possible political interference in the traditional leadership crisis.

The Akyeame further threatened to organise a massive demonstration if the Kwahuhene failed to abdicate the stool and leave peacefully. They insisted that they no longer recognised him as the legitimate occupant of the position.
They also cautioned politicians against interfering in traditional affairs, warning that, their continued involvement could strain relations between political leaders and traditional authorities.
The Akyeame called on all stakeholders to support efforts to resolve the disputes amicably, restore lasting peace, and create an enabling environment for development and economic growth in the Kwahu Traditional Area.
