Women have been urged to exercise caution in the use of chemical-based products and observe recommended safety precautions to protect their health, amid ongoing concerns about breast cancer.
The call was made during a breast cancer screening and awareness exercise at Adukrom in the Eastern Region, where health professionals and community leaders emphasised the importance of early detection and preventive healthcare.
A Senior Nurse and Midwife at the Apirede Clinic, Monica Aba Aidoo, expressed concern about the growing burden of breast cancer and urged women to prioritise their health through regular medical examinations.

She advised the public to use personal care products, including body sprays and splashes, in accordance with recommended safety guidelines. She, however, noted that the exact causes of breast cancer are not fully understood.
Madam Aidoo also cautioned the public to observe appropriate safety measures when handling agricultural chemicals, including weedicides and pesticides, to minimise exposure to potentially harmful substances.
The Founder of the GIAGIA Foundation, Celestina Nana Akua Oye, said breast cancer remains a major public health concern affecting both women and, in some cases, men.
She explained that the screening exercise was organised to raise awareness, promote early detection and encourage participants to seek timely medical attention where necessary.

Madam Oye urged women to undergo regular breast examinations and promptly report any unusual changes to health professionals for further assessment and appropriate care.

The Adukrom Amankradohemaa, Nana Awo Bempenaa Tetebea II, also underscored the importance of breast cancer awareness, regular screening and early medical intervention, urging the public to take proactive steps to protect their health.
