TUTUHENE BLAMES PARENTS FOR RISING INDISCIPLINE AMONG THE YOUTH

TUTU AKUAPEM, E/R- The Chief of Tutu Akuapem in the Eastern Region, Nana Appiah Anti IV has expressed concern over the rising incidence of indiscipline among the youth, blaming some parents for failing to instil discipline, moral values and responsible behaviour in their children from an early age.

He noted that inadequate parental guidance and training during childhood could contribute to behavioural problems among young people as they grow into adulthood.

Speaking at a special durbar of chiefs and the people of Tutu Akuapem, Nana Appiah Anti stressed the need for parents to take greater responsibility for the upbringing of their children by teaching them respect for authority, good morals and acceptable social behaviour.

The chief also expressed concern about parents who leave their children in the care of grandparents and other relatives for extended periods, arguing that the practice could affect proper parental supervision and the upbringing of the children.

Nana Appiah Anti further raised concerns about the conduct of some young people during festive celebrations, particularly the use of loud music that disturbs residents and the obstruction of major roads, which disrupts the free movement of vehicles and other road users.

He called on the youth to celebrate responsibly and respect the rights and convenience of other members of the community.

The Tutuhene also appealed to residents to contribute their quota towards the development of the area, while commending the people for their contributions to the community’s progress over the years.
