KOFORIDUA, E/R- CA Foundation Donates Medical Beds and Equipment Worth GH¢400,000 to Koforidua Hospitals
In a significant boost to healthcare delivery in the Eastern Region, the CA Foundation has donated medical beds and other essential healthcare equipment valued at GH¢400,000 to the Eastern Regional Hospital and St. Joseph Catholic Hospital in Koforidua.
The donation is aimed at helping address the persistent “no-bed syndrome” and easing logistical challenges confronting the two major healthcare facilities, while improving the quality of care provided to patients.
The medical equipment, which includes hospital beds and other critical logistics, is expected to strengthen the operational capacity of the hospitals and enhance patient comfort and service delivery.
Speaking to UTV News after receiving the donation, the Hospital Manager of St. Joseph Catholic Hospital, Philemon Kofi Quansah, and the Clinical Director of the Eastern Regional Hospital, Dr. Foster Amponsah Manu, expressed profound gratitude to the CA Foundation for what they described as a timely and impactful intervention.
According to them, the donation is one of the most significant forms of support their facilities have received in recent years and will go a long way in addressing the shortage of hospital beds and other essential medical logistics.
They noted that the increasing number of patients seeking healthcare services continues to place enormous pressure on existing facilities, making partnerships with private individuals, philanthropists, and corporate organisations indispensable.
“The support from the CA Foundation comes at a critical time. It will not only improve patient care but also help ease the burden on our healthcare workers by providing the needed logistics to deliver quality services,” the hospital authorities stated.
They further appealed to more corporate bodies and benevolent organisations to complement government efforts by investing in the healthcare sector, stressing that improving healthcare delivery requires a collective national effort.
Founder of the CA Foundation, Cynthia Adjei, explained that the initiative was inspired by her own personal experience with Ghana’s widely discussed “no-bed syndrome,” which exposed the challenges many patients face in accessing quality healthcare due to inadequate infrastructure and logistics.
She said the experience motivated her to establish interventions that provide hospitals with hospital beds and other essential medical equipment to improve patient care and save lives.
According to Ms. Adjei, the Foundation has over the years extended similar support to several major hospitals across the country, helping to improve their capacity to deliver efficient and quality healthcare services.
She called on corporate organisations, businesses, philanthropists, and individuals to partner with government in strengthening Ghana’s healthcare system, noting that quality healthcare is a shared responsibility.
“We all have a role to play in improving healthcare delivery. Government alone cannot shoulder the burden. When institutions and individuals come together to support our hospitals, the ultimate beneficiaries are the people of Ghana,” she said.
Ms. Adjei also urged the management of the beneficiary hospitals to ensure that the equipment is properly maintained and used solely for its intended purpose to maximise its impact on healthcare delivery.
The Members of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi, and New Juaben North, Nana Osei Adjei, who facilitated the donation, commended the CA Foundation for its continuous commitment to supporting the health sector.
The MPs described the Foundation’s intervention as a testament to the importance of public-private collaboration in addressing the challenges facing Ghana’s healthcare system.
They reaffirmed their commitment to championing initiatives that improve healthcare infrastructure and services within their constituencies and pledged to continue working with development partners and charitable organisations to secure additional support for health facilities in the area.
The donation is expected to significantly reduce pressure on the two hospitals, improve patient accommodation, and contribute to more efficient healthcare delivery for residents of Koforidua and surrounding communities in the Eastern Region.
